China has reinforced its dedication to bolstering ties with Central Asian nations during Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s recent visit to Kyrgyzstan. Key topics during this diplomatic tour included regional cooperation and multilateral engagement, which were discussed extensively with leaders and foreign ministers from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. The discussions emphasized collaboration through platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the China–Central Asia framework, and the United Nations.
In Kyrgyzstan, China expressed its support for the upcoming SCO Bishkek Summit, which the country will host, and promised continued commitment to Kyrgyzstan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both nations also agreed to enhance their coordination efforts regarding regional peace, security, and development, showcasing a united front in addressing these critical issues.
The talks with Uzbekistan highlighted China’s interest in advancing the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway project. Moreover, the discussions pointed towards expanding partnerships in emerging fields like artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, and modern industrial development, demonstrating China’s focus on technological and infrastructural advancements.
