Kazakhstan and Germany are set to enhance their economic collaboration following a series of talks held in Berlin between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on September 29. The discussions aimed to bolster bilateral relations and explore future opportunities in various sectors, including investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.
During the visit, President Tokayev underscored the importance of Germany as Kazakhstan’s key strategic partner in Europe, highlighting the significant progress achieved in their bilateral relations over the past 30 years. A central aspect of the discussions was the proposal to establish a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform, which would facilitate joint projects and enhance investment flows between the two nations.
Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to explore avenues for cooperation in numerous sectors such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. The conversations included plans for the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities within Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, the discussions opened the door for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan, potentially providing them with greater access to the broader Central Asian market. This initiative aligns with Kazakhstan’s strategic goals to attract foreign investment and foster economic growth by leveraging international partnerships.
