Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have pledged to enhance their bilateral relationship by boosting cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, transportation, and regional connectivity. This commitment was made during the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group in Ankara, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both nations. The discussions underscored the importance of diplomatic solutions to international conflicts and laid out plans to deepen ties in various sectors, including education and cultural exchanges.
A key focus of the meeting was economic collaboration. Both governments emphasized their intention to support new investment projects and create favorable conditions for businesses. They also discussed initiatives to facilitate travel, employment, and educational opportunities, aiming to strengthen ties between their peoples. Preparations for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were also reviewed, indicating a commitment to ongoing diplomatic engagement.
Regional connectivity was another major topic of discussion, with Kyrgyzstan highlighting the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor as a transport route. The country aims to connect the proposed China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway to this corridor, which would enhance access to European and Middle Eastern markets via Türkiye. This development is seen as a critical step in boosting regional economic integration.
Security issues, both regional and global, were also on the agenda. The ministers reiterated their commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s mediation efforts in the region and thanked Ankara for supporting its successful bid to secure a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
Looking toward the future, Kyrgyzstan announced its intention to advocate for dialogue among nations and to support the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous nations, and small island states on the international stage. The discussions between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan reflect a shared vision of cooperation and peaceful resolution of conflicts, aiming to foster stability and economic growth in their respective regions.
