In a recent meeting held in Samarkand, Kazakhstan and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, focusing on expanding trade, investment, and cooperation in key sectors such as energy, critical minerals, digitalization, and transport. The discussions took place on October 19 between Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with both officials emphasizing the importance of economic ties and advancing joint projects.
The meeting was part of the C5+1 Ministerial Meeting, which gathered the United States and five Central Asian countries to discuss regional economic development, trade, investment, and connectivity. Participants underscored the necessity of enhancing transport and logistics networks, diversifying supply chains, and pursuing joint initiatives in energy, critical minerals, and digital innovation.
During the talks, Tileuberdi highlighted opportunities for US investment and advanced technologies, particularly in sectors like energy and transport infrastructure. This dialogue builds on agreements reached during a November 2025 meeting between Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and then-US President Donald Trump, aiming to advance previously agreed initiatives.
The discussions concluded with a joint statement reaffirming a commitment to long-term cooperation and the implementation of these initiatives. Both Kazakhstan and the United States are focused on attracting investment and advancing projects that align with their strategic partnership goals.
