A recent Israeli television poll indicates a deadlock between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s supporters and opposition parties, each securing 53 seats. Meanwhile, Arab parties are estimated to gain 14 seats. This leaves both blocs short of the 61-seat majority required to control the Knesset.
This new poll reflects a significant change from earlier results, where the opposition was projected to lead 57-48. The shift is mainly due to the entry of two right-wing parties into the projected Knesset. Ofer Winter’s People of Israel is predicted to secure four seats, and the joint Religious Zionism-Zehut alliance is expected to capture six seats.
The race between Netanyahu’s Likud party and the opposition’s leading party, Yashar, led by Gadi Eisenkot, has tightened. Yashar is now forecasted to win 22 seats, while Likud is close behind with 21 seats.
The Arab-majority Joint List has seen a rise in support, reaching nine seats, whereas the B’Yachad alliance, led by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, has decreased to 12 seats. Several parties, including Unity, Blue and White, and Zionist Home-The Reservists, are predicted to fall short of the electoral threshold necessary to enter the Knesset.
The poll, which surveyed 940 individuals, has a margin of error of 3.4%, reflecting the dynamic and competitive nature of the Israeli political landscape.
