Tim Cook has transitioned from his role as Apple’s chief executive to become the company’s executive chair, a move accompanied by a compensation package valued at approximately $47 million. This new package includes a $2 million base salary and $45 million in shares, with half of the stock award contingent on performance targets and the other half set to vest over four years.
Cook’s move has brought John Ternus to the forefront as Apple’s new CEO. Ternus, who previously led Apple’s hardware engineering, will now guide the company’s product strategy and operations. His compensation package includes a $3 million base salary and a $55 million stock award, with a larger proportion dependent on performance metrics.
During Cook’s tenure as CEO, his compensation surpassed $74 million in 2025, reflecting his significant contributions to Apple’s growth. Under his leadership, Apple’s market value soared, reaching an estimated $4.7 trillion, marking a period of remarkable expansion for the tech giant.
In his new role as executive chair, Cook will concentrate on external relations, managing Apple’s interactions with governments and policymakers, as well as strengthening its presence in key international markets. This strategic focus is expected to further reinforce Apple’s global standing and influence.
