Russia and India Unite Against US Economic Coercion

by admin477351

Russia and India are presenting a united front against what they both see as U.S. economic coercion. The Kremlin, through its spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, has defended India’s trade policies, stating that “sovereign countries” have the right to make their own trade decisions. Peskov labeled U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats as “illegal” and “unacceptable.” Trump had accused India of profiting from the resale of Russian oil and threatened to impose “substantially” higher tariffs, in addition to the 25% tariff already in effect since August 1.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has also responded with a powerful statement, declaring that the “targeting of India is unjustified and unreasonable.” The ministry affirmed its commitment to protecting its “national interests and economic security.”

This diplomatic conflict highlights a significant shift in global power dynamics. Russia is positioning itself as a guardian of national sovereignty, while the U.S. is utilizing economic pressure to enforce its foreign policy agenda. The situation creates a clear division, with Moscow backing New Delhi against Washington.

The growing rift over global energy trade and geopolitical alignments underscores the complex nature of international relations today. India’s commitment to protecting its economic interests by continuing to trade with Russia, despite U.S. pressure, demonstrates a growing resolve among nations to chart independent foreign policies. The Kremlin’s support further solidifies this emerging bloc, challenging the traditional unipolar global order and heralding a more multipolar world.
