Iran has refuted allegations of its involvement in the conflict in Yemen, asserting that the Houthi forces act independently and make their own decisions. According to Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Tehran does not meddle in Yemeni affairs and has dismissed accusations tying Iran to recent events concerning Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Baghaei emphasized that the roots of the conflict are deeply embedded in Yemen’s internal issues.
In addition, Baghaei confirmed that a scheduled meeting in Oman, which was to involve Iran and Gulf countries, has been postponed at the request of Saudi Arabia. This meeting was anticipated to focus on regional security and cooperation. Despite the delay, Baghaei noted that an agreement between Iran and Oman regarding maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz has been finalized, and the two nations will decide on the next steps independently.
The planned talks were also meant to allow Iran and Oman to present their mutual understanding concerning the Strait of Hormuz maritime routes. Even though the meeting has been delayed, the finalized understanding between the two countries indicates their commitment to finding a path forward.
Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, commented on the postponement, stating that the decision was made to foster consensus. He also reaffirmed Oman’s dedication to dialogue and its commitment to pursuing regional stability and long-term cooperation.
